Am I an Idiot? Plus – Something Exciting!

As Joel and I were driving home from work this evening, the song Changing by Airborne Toxic Event came on. Now the words of the song aren’t important right now, but after the chorus Joel said to me, “so I guess this song is about a break up.” And it occurred to me, I listen to music, but I don’t hear it. Very rarely, if ever, have I sat down after a song and thought to myself, “wow, that song was about blank…” Am I an idiot? Am I missing a quintessential part of the music listening process? Books or TV?

I started reading the Rizzoli & Isles books a couple of years ago, before the show on TNT came out. This isn’t a platform for me to pronounce my devotion prior to their hitting the mainstream, it’s just a statement. At first, I thought it was remarkable that author Tess Gerritson could write so skillfully for both of these incredibly different women. Especially since she gave up her career as a medical examiner to become a writer. I loved Rizzoli’s hardheaded intelligence and Isles’ cool, brilliant grace. They were both captivating in their own way and even though I’m only on the fourth book, I thoroughly enjoy their adventures. Continue reading

Spam Comments

So the comments that get removed as spam are really weird. Sometimes they start out normal and then just turn into weird robot jibberish. Then other times they’re just completely weird robot jibberish. Either way, it creeps me out.

Endorphins are the Shit.

Check out that lady right there. That’s Chalene Johnson, creator of a whole ton of exercise regiments from Beachbody. How can you not be pumped to do a workout with that picture on the cover of it? Well, I kind of wasn’t. My thing with Turbo Jam is that I’ve had it for years and I’ve done it a million times, but always when I come back to it, I need to start at the beginning and work my way up to the intense and longer work outs. Like tonight I did the twenty minute routine, and pretty much did it low impact, and I’m exhausted and a sweaty beast. Slice me off a piece of zero-calorie humble pie, please. Continue reading

Finals Make My Brain Hurt

Happy Sunday! Decided to work out before studying and did 1.66 miles in thirty minutes on level 3/4 on the elliptical. Burned about 265 calories. Woohoo! I am going to participate in a fitness challenge starting next year that a girl I know from high school is sponsoring. You commit to thirty days of exercising and drinking Shakeology and then just see where you go from there. I think it will be a good way to kick off the new year. Continue reading

Malakalekimakah is the Thing to Say

Finally got the tree up last night! I ended up buying a new one since our other one was HUGE and could not fit anywhere since the return of my bed. It was $50 at Target and then I spent $20 on lights. I don’t think it looks as nice as last year even though I used the same decorations. Last year my mom helped me decorate it and she’s AMAZING at that stuff. She made all the bows that are on there. (Awesome picture courtesy of Instagram!) Continue reading

Ease into Whaaaa?

Well hello there!! I’m here to tell you that I just completed 2.74 miles in 38 minutes – and I’m never running on a treadmill again! I swear, there’s no way I would have been able to go as far and as fast as I did if I had been inside. Plus it smells in there. Granted I haven’t bought any cold outside running garb yet, but I managed. Once I started running I was good to go anyway. Continue reading
